What actually decides whether it works
Price is the easy part. These are the points that decide whether the structure survives its first hailstorm and the crop pays for it.
Ask for the structural rating, in writing
A greenhouse designed for a calm climate can fold in a Highveld storm. Ask the manufacturer for the design wind speed and the hail rating of the cover, and match them to your area. Large structures may also need municipal approval.
Our problem is heat, not cold
Many imported greenhouses are built to hold heat in. Here you usually need to get it out: roof vents, shade screens, fans and wet walls. We specify for a South African summer, not a European winter.
Hydroponics is only as good as your water
Salty or hard water upsets the nutrient balance and blocks drippers. Test your water first, and plan filtration and, where needed, treatment before the growing system.
Choose the system for the crop and the market
Lettuce and herbs suit NFT channels; tomatoes and peppers suit buckets or slabs. The system should follow the crop you can sell, not the other way round.
Film and net are consumables
Greenhouse film and shade net wear out in the sun. Ask the UV life and warranty on the cover, and budget to replace it on that cycle.
You're trading the dealer network for the price
That's the honest trade. There is no branded agronomist on standby. Buy structures that use standard steel profiles and clips a local fabricator can match, and keep spare drippers, fittings and film clips on hand.

Will an imported greenhouse survive our hail?
Only if it is rated for it. We ask the manufacturer for the wind and hail rating in writing and match the cover to your area. Hail net is often the practical answer.
Is hydroponics worth it for a small farm?
It can be, for high-value crops you can sell reliably, like lettuce, herbs and tomatoes. Start with a system sized to your market rather than your space.
Do you supply the complete system?
Yes: structure, cover, growing system, irrigation, fertigation and climate control, matched to your crop. We quote it as one package so the parts work together.
Do you install?
Delivery is in the landed price. Structures are erected by a local team using the maker's drawings; for large projects the manufacturer can send a supervisor at a daily rate plus travel.
